2020年初，东莞市人民政府、香港城市大学和东莞理工学院签署协议，合作举办香港城市大学（东莞）。2022年6月，教育部批准筹备设立香港城市大学（东莞），并于近日批准正式设立。

九月开学
香港城市大学（东莞）首批开设计算机科学与技术、智能制造工程、材料科学与工程、能源与动力工程等4个本科专业和电脑科学、电子资讯工程学、材料工程及纳米科技、机械工程学、能源及环境、商务资讯系统、土木及建筑工程、工程管理学、生物医学工程、数据科学等10个硕士专业。现已同步启动本科和研究生招生工作，定于今年9月开学。

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) Officially Established
On April 16th, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), a collaborative educational venture between mainland and Hong Kong, with an independent legal identity. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing the cooperation in higher education within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aligning with the objectives laid out in the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area".
At the beginning of 2020, the People's Government of Dongguan, City University of Hong Kong, and Dongguan University of Technology signed an agreement to jointly establish City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). In June 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the preparatory status for City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) and has recently granted approval for its official establishment.

Grand Opening in September
City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) will launch four undergraduate programmes: Computer Science and Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Energy and Power Engineering. Additionally, roll out ten graduate programmes, encompassing fields like Computer Science, Electronic Information Engineering, Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Environment, Business Information Systems, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Engineering Management, Biomedical Engineering, and Data Science.
City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) has kicked off the admissions process for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, targeting a commencement date in September this year.
